CNN’s Scott Jennings has alerted the FBI to a social media post from former MSNBC anchor Keith Olbermann in an online exchange between the two over Jimmy Kimmel’s return to late-night TV. Jennings shared a screenshot of a since-deleted social media thread Monday, in which Olbermann is accused of threatening the CNN political contributor.

The alleged threat came after Jennings shared his take on ABC’s reinstatement of Kimmel following his suspension over comments he made about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk last week.
“So basically his employer suspended him for being an insensitive p****, and we don’t live in an authoritarian regime? Got it,” Jennings posted on X Monday.
Olbermann responded in a since-deleted post, “You’re next mother***er. But keep mugging to the camera.”
In another post, Olbermann wrote to Jennings, “We won you stupid pieces of s***. Last fold to fascism was last week.”
Olbermann said in a separate post, “Now we get the fascists off real tv. That’d mean your career is next, Jennings. Send a tape to Real America’s Voice. But keep mugging to camera, amateur.”
Olbermann’s post reported to FBI
Jennings and other social media commentators said they saw Olbermann’s remarks as a threat following the assassination of Kirk. Jennings shared a screenshot of the exchange obtained by Townhall’s Dustin Grage before Olbermann deleted his comments and tagged FBI Director Kash Patel in the post.
As of the publishing of this report, Olbermann has yet to respond to the accusations.
Olbermann’s comments on Sinclair and Kirk
Olbermann took issue with Kimmel’s suspension, criticizing Sinclair Broadcast Group, which announced it would be pulling “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” from its programming over his comments on Kirk.
“Burn in hell, Sinclair,” Olbermann posted last week. “Alongside Charlie Kirk.”
Sinclair has yet to reinstate Kimmel despite Disney’s decision to bring him back.
